At our first session we will meet at the center for a short introduction to the class and then go to an outside location to do preliminary sketching and drawing.
You’ll need to bring pencils or other materials and a 9” x 12” pad of Bristol vellum for this work. The sketches you make will be the basis for subsequent paintings.
We’ll meet in our classroom for the remaining sessions and you may paint in the media of your choice: acrylics, oil, watercolor or oil or soft pastels.
Paints: 4-ounce tubes or about 118 mml each of any paint. Different brands of paint have different names for their colors. If a color in these names is not available, choose a color in that category that is neither too dark nor too light.

**If working with oil paint you must bring and use only odorless mineral spirits for your cleaning solvent.
Any store or website will have a variety of brands, colors and qualities. Buy what your budget can allow but know that cheaper paints contain less color pigment in volume. A starter set containing primary and secondary colors in any of the mediums should be adequate for this workshop. If a set does not include Titanium White, add a separate tube of Titanium White to your purchase. Any hardware store will have odorless mineral spirits.
