Neuse, Jon – Color Workshop for Painters

Materials to Bring:

 

  • Papers:Watercolor or printing papers about 140# (300 gm/g2) or heavier.  Pads or single sheets.
  • Paints: 2-ounce tubes or about 60 mml each of acrylic paints
    • Yellow Medium Azo
    • Ultramarine Blue
    • Cadmium Orange
    • Phthalo Green
    • Ultramarine Violet
    • Yellow Ochre
    • Burnt Sienna
    • Bone Black
    • Titanium White
  • Media: Small tube or jar of Soft Gel Matte Medium
  • Brushes And Palette Knife:Bring a variety of inexpensive brushes.  Paper towels for drying brushes.  One palette knife.  Water can for cleaning brushes.
  • A Color Wheel
  • Other Material:(As you wish) Rigid board as a working surface, portable easel or stool, spring clips, color wheel, value chart, markers, toothbrushes, palette knives, pastels, water mister, sponges, portfolio, scrapers, pencils, material storage box, scissors, small wallpaper knife, water  crayons, erasers, Q-tips, sketchbooks, pliers, masking- and low-tack tape, measuring tape, ruler, candle.
  • Your Own Work: Make and bring two works of art on paper that you create before the workshop. Be prepared to reconfigure, cut, fold, step on, or in any other ways manipulate the works during the 11:00 AM time slot of the workshop.  The work can be of any media.

    Demonstration and Mixing colors and making a color chart

    Demonstration and Color recipes for specific colors and uses
    Artists work on their own; sharing materials as needed

    Critique the work that is made during the workshop
    Answer questions and review the glossary

    End of the workshop
