MCFTA’s talented artist-instructors share the vision behind their teaching in this walk-through catalog of the varied learning experiences available in our studios. Find something wonderful to add to your collection, or get some ideas about which class you’d like to take next! All exhibited work will be for sale.

Call for Entries – Due September 9

Dates: Open for shopping October 23 – December 19; intake of artwork: October 13 and 14

Purpose: to create a unique shopping experience for art-interested shoppers, while providing a venue for artists to sell their work

Eligibility: open to all fine art and fine craft artists. Submissions will be chosen for the sale considering quality, price, and appropriateness for holiday gift-giving in an upscale, suburban market. Jewelry, glass, functional pottery, and fiber are particularly popular for gift-giving

Audience: Art Center constituents, West Metro residents, and art-interested shoppers from throughout the Metro region attend this show for unique, handmade gifts of fine craft and art

Location: Laura H Miles Gallery, Minnetonka Center for the Arts

Guidelines for applying:

Apply by September 9, with three images of work representing types of items you’d like to sell, indicating price range, size, and media information. Apply by email to bbowman@minnetonkaarts.org or by sending images and supporting info to: Minnetonka Center for the Arts, ATTN: Arts of the Holidays, 2240 North Shore Drive, Wayzata MN 55391. Images and supporting information emailed as attachments rather than in the body of the email are preferred. Include information about medium, size, and retail price of each item. Materials sent by mail will be returned only if accompanied by a SSAE.

Media considered includes painting, drawing, sculpture, jewelry, glass, fiber, photography, ceramics, printmaking, wood, and multi-media. Jewelry, pottery, fiber, and glass have proven especially good sellers. 2D work should be framed and ready to hang, or sleeved for display on stands. Price points under $200 sell best. Items that sell can be replenished as artists supply new items. A big showpiece or two makes a strong display and helps sell the smaller items however!

Not considered: items made primarily from unaltered commercially manufactured components, and offset litho or giclee prints/reproductions.

Notifications by email as entries are received. If selected, you’ll be supplied with inventory sheets and coded stickers for marking your items.

Artists’ commission on sales will be 60%.

Event promotion includes social media postings, postcard mailings, Art Center website and newsletter features, and press releases/event listings in local newspapers. Participating artists will be provided with electronic announcements for their mailing lists and social media. Links will be provided to the Arts of the Holidays announcement on minnetonkaarts.org and Facebook event.

Or keeping… Enjoy the unhurried atmosphere of shopping in our spacious gallery, with even more to see in our retail shop. With over a hundred local artists’ work, it’s a holiday shopping must!

To have your work considered, send images of sculpture (up to 30” in height) or fine craft objects to bbowman@minnetonkaarts.org. A small number of small (less than 20” wide) paintings and 2-d work can also be shown. Include media description and retail price information; all exhibited work must be for sale.

Many of Minnesota’s finest watercolorists exhibit their work in this competitive exhibition, juried by Dan Marshall. This spring’s show celebrates watercolorists’ efforts to stretch the limits of their medium: “From delicate washes that dissolve into the atmosphere to bold, saturated strokes that command the page, we want to highlight watermedia’s ability to shift effortlessly between control and spontaneity.” Exhibit opens Saturday, April 11, with a juror talk and awards presentation. Viewable through May 15.

All exhibited work is for sale.

Drevis Hager’s evocative landscapes move between representation and abstraction, allowing us to make our own associations as we enjoy their lush color and intriguing spaces. On display in the Art Wall Corridor and entry, now through June.

INTAKE: Thursday, May 28, 6 – 8 pm and Friday, May 29, 9 am – 12 pm (entry times are FIRM)
– No pre-registration required; simply bring your work to the gallery to enter
– Enter up to 2 pieces; 1 per series class or workshop taken (a class taken repeatedly counts for 1 entry)
– Work can be for sale or NFS
– Open to students 16 and older who have taken a class at MCFTA since January 2024
– Entry times are FIRM; if you cannot deliver your work during the entry times, fill out your exhibit contract in advance and ask a fellow student of friend to lend a hand

OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, June 4, 6 – 8 pm
– Bring a potluck dish to share with your fellow artists
