Our studios provide everything you need to dive into making art.
Spacious and bright, all classrooms have high ceilings and abundant natural light, creating an open,
airy environment where creativity can expand and grow. Friendly and talented Artist-Instructors bring each
medium into understandable, do-able steps. As working artists themselves, they share techniques and
fundamentals that they've learned and practiced in their own art, or observed from other artists. They'll
help you gain confidence, build skills and find your unique form of expression and creativity.
Classes that begin as individuals learning art become communities making art together.
Most classes welcome all levels of experience and abilities. Beginners benefit not only from personal
guidance from the Artist-Instructor but also from the support of their classmates. Everyone is a beginner
at some point. The important thing is to begin! The Art Center is also a home for students who have arts
degrees but need a place to practice their art. All studios offer professional-grade tools and equipment
and ample open studio hours to continue working on projects outside of class. Many class groups enjoy
camaraderie and continued casual conversation with their instructors over lunch in the Art Center Café,
extending the learning experience.
Reach your goals! Personal discovery or become a professional artist.
Our Artist-Instructors are professional artists, selling and exhibiting their work regionally, nationally and
internationally. They can take you as far as you want to go. Beyond the studio experience, we offer our
annual Student Show, Members' Show, Arts of the Holidays Show & Sale and other retail opportunities
to help students become savvy sellers and exhibitors of their artwork when they are ready. Many students,
with or without prior art experience, have gone on to be successful artists after studying at the Minnetonka
Center for the Arts.
Children who engage in the arts benefit socially and academically!
Our classes for Children & Teens teach solid art fundamentals with a focus on fun and age-appropriate
activities. Through the school year, there are after-school and Saturday classes (4-8 weekly sessions)
in most disciplines for ages 5 to 15. Teens ages 16 and up are welcome in most of our adult classes.
Summer comes alive with our award-winning Summer Arts Camp that offers more than 100 classes
to build creativity and confidence from June through August for ages 5 to 15.
Everyone is welcome at the Art Center!
